A studio for curious musicians, growing artists, and lifelong learners.

I’ve spent the last 17 years teaching music in nearly every setting you can imagine: universities, private studios, classrooms, community programs, choirs, stages, and recording spaces. Along the way, I’ve performed, toured, arranged, conducted, written, gigged, and helped countless musicians find their voice and their confidence.

In recent years, my professional life expanded into arts administration, digital media, and consulting for nonprofits and creative organizations. But at my core, I’m still a musician, and teaching is where I feel most at home.

This year, I’m reopening my independent studio with a refreshed, intentional model designed to support the way real artists live and learn today.

    Lessons are offered every other week, a structure that supports spacious learning, work-life balance, and sustainable practice habits.

    This model aligns with my own rhythm as a parent and creative professional, and it’s ideal for:

    • Piano students (youth or adult beginners, returning players)

    • Intermediate pianists wanting improv, accompanying, chart reading, singing-while-playing, or developing a solo set

    • Classically trained musicians who want to explore jazz, musical theatre, or contemporary styles

    This is a studio for thoughtful musicians and people who want to learn with curiosity, space, and intention.

  • My teaching works best when we can build a collaborative path. For that reason, the studio is not a fit for musicians who:

    • need crisis-management teaching (for audition prep, consider a coaching session)

    • arrive weekly with externally assigned repertoire and tight deadlines

    • want a high-pressure environment centered on competition or perfection

    • do not practice between lessons

    If your season of life requires a teacher with more availability for these things, I’m happy to recommend wonderful colleagues who thrive in that pace.

    Most students thrive in a full hour. This format supports:

    • technique development

    • repertoire exploration

    • steady progress between sessions

    Recommended for ongoing voice students & intermediate pianists.

  • $50

    A great option for:

    • younger beginners

    • adults returning after a long break

    • students building foundational skills

  • $38

    Available only for one-off sessions with an intake questionnaire.


    These shorter sessions exist for targeted check-ins such as:

    • skill brush-ups

    • preparing for a specific performance

    • adding on supplemental coaching between regular lessons

    Because these sessions require me to prepare intentionally to meet a very specific goal, they are booked only after completing a special session intake form, ensuring we maximize the limited time together.

    (If you’re a new student, we’ll begin with 45- or 60-minute lessons to establish technique, habits, and flow.)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, especially for independent learners, adults, motivated beginners, and families with full schedules. Many students make more progress with space between sessions, with effective independent practice.

  • My current studio model is biweekly. If you need weekly sessions, I can recommend teachers who specialize in that structure.

  • If you miss a lesson in our biweekly rhythm, life happens. I’ll offer a makeup if my schedule allows, but because the calendar is spaced out intentionally, makeups can be limited. Many students simply resume at their next regular lesson and we adjust practice goals as needed.

  • Absolutely. Beginners are some of my favorite students to work with.

  • Yes. Returning adults are very welcome.

  • Typically age 6 through adult for piano; 12 through adult for voice.

  • Lessons take place in my home studio in Columbia, MO.

  • Yes — students must have an instrument accessible at home to practice.
